iPhone and iPad app
Privacy: we collect nothing.
NereusSDR for iPhone and iPad collects no data. It has no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporter and no tracking, and it has no accounts. What the app sends goes to your own station.
Where your data goes
- To your own Core. The app is a console for a NereusSDR Core that you run at your station. The phone's name and its public key when you pair, its sign-in, the changes you make, and your voice while you transmit all go to that Core and nowhere else.
-
Through the remote access service, when you are away. To reach your Core from
outside your home network, the app goes through the NereusSDR remote access service at
rv.nereussdr.com. The service and its relays keep connection state in memory. Their system logs record connection events and data-use counts, without audio or commands. The TURN relay can log a Core identifier or a requested destination address when it refuses a request. Your audio and your commands are encrypted from the phone to your Core, so the relay cannot read them. - Support files only where you send them. The Support Bundle page makes a file of this phone's log and your Core's bundle and hands it to the share sheet. You choose where it goes; the app sends it nowhere itself.
- Links open only when you tap them. Links such as this page open in your browser when you tap them, and not otherwise.
What stays on the phone
The phone keeps the Cores you have paired with and its own signing key. The key lives in the phone's Secure Enclave where it has one, and in the iOS Keychain otherwise. None of it leaves the phone, apart from the public half of the key, which your Core keeps so it knows this phone.
Permissions the app asks for
- Microphone: to send your voice to your station while you transmit, and to show your microphone level when you open that meter. The level stays on the phone.
- Local network: to find your Core on your Wi-Fi and connect straight to it.
- Bluetooth: to find and connect to Bluetooth push-to-talk buttons.
Apple
If you choose to share crash reports or TestFlight feedback with developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple collects and passes them on under Apple's own privacy policy. The app itself sends nothing to us.
Questions
Ask on the project's issue tracker. The app's source is public, so anyone can check what it does: see the source code page.
This policy covers NereusSDR for iPhone and iPad. The desktop NereusSDR application and the Core are free software you run yourself, and they send nothing to us either.
